An Oredo Magistrates’ Court in Benin, on Monday, sentenced Bright Idiye, an ex-convict to one month imprisonment for stealing a loaf of bread 24-hours after his release.
The Chief Magistrate I.N. Osayande did not give Idiye the option of fine.
The ex-convict had pleaded guilty to stealing a loaf of bread worth N450 and groundnut valued at N300.
Idiye committed the offence at Iyaro, Benin, on July 16, 2017 barely 24 hours after his release from prison.
According to the charge, Idiye stole a loaf of bread worth N450 and groundnut worth N300.
Idiye, who the Magistrate sent back to Oko Medium Prison to serve his one month jail term, was released from the same prison custody on July 15, 2017. (NAN)
