A Nyanya Customary Court, Abuja, has struck out a divorce case, filed by Mrs Peace Asuquo, praying the court to dissolve her marriage because of her husband’s relationship with other women.

When the case came up for hearing, however, none of the parties was in court.

Mr Jamilu Jega, who presided over the court, said that the parties had not been present in court for three sittings.

According to him, since the two parties were not in the court for the hearing of their case, the case would be struck out.

“By the virtue of the rules of this honourable court, the court shall strike out the case since the parties have been absent from court three times,” Jega said.

 “Hence, this case is hereby struck out accordingly but the petitioner can revisit her case if she so desires,” he added.

Earlier, Peace had told the court in her petition that there was no peace in her marriage.

She stated that there was no peace because her husband, Lawrence, had been bringing different women into their matrimonial home. (NAN)
