A Grade A Customary Court sitting at Mapo in Ibadan, Oyo State, has put an end to a seven-year-old cohabitation between one Ajibola Akinloye and his estranged lover, Rodiat on grounds of fetishism and disrespect.

The court’s President, Mrs O.E. Owoseni said that the court cannot stop anyone who was no longer interested in continuing with a marriage.

Owoseni, therefore, ordered both Akinloye and Rodiat to go their separate ways in the interest of peaceful living.

She argued that the union between Akinloye and Rodiat was not valid in the first place due to non-payment of bride price by the petitioner.

In his earlier testimony, Akinloye, a student and resident of Ile-oloda, Fatusi, Ayegun area of Ibadan, said he discovered that Rodiat was a big threat to his life soon after she became pregnant.

He added that Rodiat had no respect for him and his relatives.

“After Rodiat got pregnant for me in 2018, she started living with me and began to display the negative aspects of her life.

“Precisely, in June 2024, I discovered her fetish behaviour as she threatened to harm me.

“In fact, she also threatened me on the phone after filing this suit against her,” Akinloye stated.

In her response, Rodiat, an unemployed lover, pleaded with the court not to terminate the union because the petitioner was the one who deflowered her.

She also said that it was Akinloye that first threatened her.

Rodiat was however silent on the allegation of fetishism levelled against her. (NAN)
