The Kano COVID-19 Action Recovery and Economic Stimulus (KN-CARES), a World Bank-assisted project, in collaboration with the Federal Government of Nigeria and Kano State Government, has revealed that it has successfully rehabilitated 23 wet markets across the state as a measure by the project to restore the livelihoods of the poor and the vulnerable people, as well as restore steady food security and economic prosperity that were affected by the aftermath of the pandemic. 

Speaking during a post implementation assessment by the national body of the project in Kano, the state project coordinator, Malam Mukhtar Yakasai, revealed that in the 23 renovated wet markets, 23 public conveniences were also renovated, as well as the provision of solar powered water pumps, which were reticulated to vegetable sellers section, as well as the slaughter houses in all the 23 wet markets.

He explained that the project also renovated various access roads and empowered smallholder farmers in the state to  

Similarly, the NG-CARES representative, Nnenna Ogholi, revealed that the team was in Kano on a post assessment of the project, as well as to provide technical support to the team in the sttae in preparation to the coming of the Independent Verification Agents (IVA) that would finally assess the outcome of the project for upward disbursement of funds for the continuation of the project.
