COVID-19: Al-Habibiyyah sensitises Muslims on preventive measures

A faith-based group, Al-Habibiyyah Islamic Society, has sensitised about 2000 Muslims in the south-western states on preventive measures against the dreaded coronavirus pandemic.

Addressing journalists at the event held in Ibadan, Oyo State capital, the Chief Imam of Al-Habibiyyah, Alhaji Fuad Adeyemi, said the programme was to educate the people on how to prevent themselves from contracting the virus even though the rate of infection in slowing down.

“In the area of health challenge, many people thought the virus is going, yes it may seem like that, but we still need to prevent it,” he said.

The Director, Nursing Services at the Oyo State Hospital Management Board, Alhaja Risqat Toyosi Nasir, said though Nigeria was recording reduced COVID-19 cases, there is still community transmission.

“People are forgetting gradually that the virus is still very much around. Some other countries are experiencing the second wave of the virus which they said is even deadlier than the previous one.

“Do we have to wait until we have the second one? No. It is on this note we call on our people to always ensure that they take precautionary measures to reduce the spread of the virus,” she added.
