COVID-19: Contractors seek Buhari’s intervention over FCT unpaid supplies

A group of contractors numbering over 300 have urged President Muhammadu Buhari and the Presidential Steering Committee (PSC) headed by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, to intervene in the unpaid contract sum of the COVID-19 medical and non-medical supplies to the FCT administration.
The contractors made the plea Friday in Abuja during their protest at the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) administration’s office.
The contractors claimed they executed various COVID-19 contracts for the FCT Administration in the first quarter of 2020 without being paid till date, despite the risks, including some of them contracting the virus.
The spokesmen of the contractors, Noah Idokwo Victor and Ewoma Micheal urged the Presidency to intervene so that the authorities of the FCTA would pay them.
They said that the medical wares and equipment, including personal protective equipment (PPEs), they supplied last year were used in the management of the pandemic in the FCT.
The Permanent Secretary, FCTA, Mr. Olusade Adesola, had last week said that the delay in the payment for the contractors was due to their failure to meet all the administrative requirements.
