A member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State, Miss Christianah Omolara Kolawole, has donated relief materials to the Osun State government as part of efforts to provide palliatives for the poor residents to cushion the effect of the lockdown in the state over COVID-19.
The corps member who hails from Ekiti, and graduated from the Ekiti State University, presented the relief materials to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prince Wole Oyebamiji, in Osogbo, along with other Corps members who produced nose covers and hand sanitisers in support of the war against the pandemic.
Kolawole, who is serving at the Government College, Ikirun, used her N33,000 monthly allowance to buy the food materials that she donated to the state government.
All the items donated to the state government were worth N200,000.
Kolawole with her colleagues said she was motivated to make the donations when she realised that the battle to defeat the pandemic should not be left to the governments alone.
She said, “I decided to use my monthly allowance to buy these relief materials and donate them to the state government because we must come together to support the needy and join hands to defeat and combat COVID-19 pandemic”.
Receiving the items on behalf of Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Oyebamiji lauded her for the gesture and assured her that the materials would be deployed appropriately to reach the indigent residents targeted.
In his remarks, the NYSC Coordinator in the state, Mr Adegoke Ayodele Adewale, expressed delight at the gesture of the Corps member and urged all Nigerians to abide by all measures to curtail the spread of the virus.
