Imams in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have donated 900 bags of assorted grains to Muslim faithful and other residents in the six area councils.

The chairman, Committee of FCT Imams Initiative (CFII), Dr. Tajudeen Muhammad Adigun, said the gesture was to ease the sufferings of the less privileged in the federal capital.

Daily Trust reports that CFII had, in April, gave out cash, 180 bags of rice, groundnut oil and other condiments to people in the six area councils.

Imam Adigun, who led other imams to flag-off another distribution in Abuja, said the food items included 300 bags of rice, 300 bags maize and 300 bags of millet.

He commended the donors and those who ensured that the items reached the needy.

He appealed to wealthy Nigerians to assist fellow citizens in this time of pressing needs so that people do not suffer the fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Some people are already locked in poverty before COVID-19. So, all hands must be on deck to help ourselves,” Adigun said.

He prayed that Allah remove the affliction of the pandemic from mankind.
