The federal government Wednesday formally lifted the midnight to 4am movement restrictions imposed in 2019 to reduce the spread of COVID 19 in the country.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) and Chairman Presidential Steering Committee on COVID-19 (PSC), Boss Mustapha, announced this in a statement.

He said the decision followed the reduced risk of importation of new variants, declining number of cases of the pandemic, availability of vaccines and increasing number of people vaccinated in Nigeria and globally.
The SGF, however, said that all political activities involving large gatherings were to strictly adhere to COVID 19 guidelines issued by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
He said, “Use of face mask to be mandatory for indoor activities but at individual’s discretion during outdoor activities. Those aged 60 and above or with co-morbidities such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease are advised to uphold the use of universal precaution, which includes the use of face mask, avoiding crowds and frequent use of hand sanitisers.”
Mustapha added that while there was no limitation on air travel, travelers must abide by existing protocols, including the use of face masks while onboard and taking personal precaution measures.
