Ten units of respiratory ventilators and 1500 pieces of N95 face masks worth millions of naira have been donated to Kano state government in support of its efforts at combating coronavirus pandemic in the state.

The items were donated by Zedvance, a financial lending company.

Similarly the Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO) donated 1500 bags of rice (10kg) and 1500 gallons of cooking oil for distribution to vulnerable families to cushion the effects of the lockdown.

The items were handed over to Gov Abdullahi Umar Ganduje in Kano by the KEDCO Managing Director, Alhaji Tajuddeen Alhassan Dantata.

The power distribution company also presented a cheque of N2m to bolster the government’s effort in dealing with the pandemic.

Speaking while presenting the items the Managing Director, Zedvance, Mr Ever Obi, said the gesture was meant to identify with the government and people of the state in the current predicament occasioned by the novel virus.

He said Kano as the company’s business stronghold, there was the need to give back to the society.

Mr Obi said talks were in process to identify more areas of intervention especially in refurbishing a 100 bed capacity isolation centre in the state.

Governor Ganduje, who was visibly delighted over the gesture, described the donations as timely, saying they were in line with the government’s three points agenda in fighting the disease.

He thanked the donors and promised to ensure that the items would be maximally utilized for the purposes for which they were meant.
