The Muslim Students Society of Nigeria (MSSN), A Zone, Zaria, has distributed food items to some residents of the ancient city of Zaria as part of the efforts of providing succour to the less-privileged amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

Speaking during the exercise, that took place at the Islamic Trust of Nigeria (ITN), Zaria, the chairman of the society’s COVID-19 response team, Dr. Adamu Aliyu, said well-meaning individuals contributed to the success of the programme.

Aliyu explained that the society was also engaged in a sensitisation drive to curb the spread of the dreaded COVID-19.

He said it was the responsibility of every Muslim to continue to adhere to the preventive measures put in place by relevant authorities in order to prevent themselves from falling victims of the disease.

Islam as a religion, according to him, has over a thousand years ago stipulated most of the preventive measures against COVID-19 that are being promoted now.

He added: “This means that these measures are not new to Muslims. All we need to do is to continue to put them into practice. Muslims all over Nigeria, not only in Zaria, can contribute to the success of this our programme as it is meant to touch the lives of the less-privileged.”
