The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has inspected the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) permanent orientation camp in Ede, Osun State and certified it ready for reopening.

The NYSC orientation camps across the country were closed down as part of measures to prevent spread of coronavirus.

The NYSC state Coordinator, Mr Ayodele Adegoke, conducted the NCDC team round the facilities at the camp and assured that no stone would be left unturned to safeguard the lives of corps members and officials of the corps.

The team was shown the numerous hand washing points outside and within the camp, sample collection booth, automated and mechanised hand-washing machines fabricated by corps members for camp use, the bed-spacing in the hostels and clinic,  the isolation centre,  kitchen and dining, thermometres acquired, camp surroundings, among others.

The COVID-19 Protocol Compliance Inspection team of Epidemiologists led by Dr Adeagbo Omolola, said the facilities at the camp were in line with the NCDC guidelines and precautionary measures.

Also, a member of the team, Mr Fafioye Rasaq, who is the state Disease Surveillance and Notification Officer, expressed satisfaction with the preparation and readiness of the Osun NYSC for reopening.

While speaking, the Osun NYSC Coordinator said “Our Director-General, Brig. Gen Shuiabu Ibrahim, mandated all states to ensure strict compliance with the NCDC protocols and further instructed that the sample collection booth be made available in every camp for the safety of our corps members.

“This is a reflection of how much the corps members mean to him and to all staff of the scheme. They are dear to us and therefore, we cannot jeopardise their health and safety. This is why the scheme is ensuring absolute compliance as you must have observed “.
