Ogun State Government says it had set up 131 vaccination centres including 26 mobile sites based in market places, motor parks and religious centres as the second phase of the COVID-19 vaccination exercise began in the state.
The State Government had taken delivery of 187,426 doses of Moderna COVID-19 vaccines as part of a move to combat the third wave of the pandemic.

The Commissioner of Health, Dr Tomi Coker told newsmen in Abeokuta that a total of 131 vaccination sites have set up with 105 fixed sites, which include Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Federal Medical Centre, State and General Hospitals and Primary Health facilities across the 20 Local Government to allow easy access to vaccination.
Coker, flanked by top officials in the ministry, disclosed that over 126,000 residents were vaccinated in the first phase of the exercise.
According to her, the second phase of the vaccination runs between August 23 and September 11.
She said “Currently, in Ogun State, the number of Laboratory confirmed cases are 5,181 with 73 deaths being 1.4% of the total number of cases. However, the toll continues to rise daily due to the 3rd wave.
“Having successfully implemented an efficient first phase in which a total of over 126,000 Ogun State residents were vaccinated, we have commenced planning for the second phase of covid-19 vaccination.
“There are a total of 131 vaccination sites set up with 105 fixed sites, which include Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital, Federal Medical Centre, State and General Hospitals and Primary Health facilities across the 20 Local Government while we have 26 mobile sites which are based in market places, motor parks and religious centres to allow easy access to vaccination.
“We also have super site to cater for those that received their first dose from other states or LGAs. The above measures have been put in place to curtail the third wave of the pandemic.”
