COVID-19 weighs heavy on AfDB meeting, as Adesina seeks re-election

The start of the annual meetings of the African Development Bank got off to a strange start on Tuesday – going virtual for the first time, on account of the coronavirus pandemic.

The bank’s president, Akinwumi Adesina, said the decision to go virtual was “motivated by the need to ensure personal safety, well being and health of everyone.”
