The Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, says Lagos-Ibadan and the Abuja-Kaduna train services would be closed if any case of COVID-19 is detected.

Amaechi, who spoke on Monday on a Nigeria Television Authority’s morning show: ‘Good Morning Nigeria’ said it was expedient for Nigerians to learn how to live with COVID-19 by observing all highlighted protocols and guidelines to avoid contracting the virus.

He said: “If the Lagos-Ibadan passengers flout the COVID protocols, we’ll stop the train (services). Don’t forget that we convey about 4,000 passengers in a day on the Abuja-Kaduna rail line.”

He said rise in the number of COVID-19 cases had delayed the inauguration of the Lagos-Ibadan service, saying President Buhari would virtually inaugurate the $1.6bn project expected to be completed this month.
