Persons living with disabilities in Kwali Area Council, FCT, at the weekend received palliatives from the federal government to help cushion the effect of the COVID-19 lockdown.

Speaking at the event, the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Umar Farouq, through her Special Assistant on Persons with Special Needs, Danjuma Attah, stated that the distribution of the palliatives was a continuation of the federal government’s effort to reach out to vulnerable groups.

She said the programme was flagged off on May 9, 2020 at Karmajiji disabled community.

Attah delivered 540 bags of palliatives each containing; 5kg vegetable oil, 10kg rice, 5kg Semovita, 10pcs of spaghetti, one carton of noodles and wrapper, which were distributed to 540 beneficiaries.

The chairman of the council,  Danladi Chiya, who was represented by the council secretary, Malam Bako Pai, said the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration had been the doing well in supporting vulnerable Nigerians, especially during the COVID-19 lockdown, adding that the items would go a long way in supporting the beneficiaries.
