Coy sensitises Northern consumers on iodized salt
As part of activities for the sensitization campaign, the company’s management team led by the Executive Director, Alhaji Lawal Idirisu paid a courtesy visit to the Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Sheu Idris in Zaria where he explained that the visit to the palace of the Emir was to obtain his royal blessing for the consumer sensitization campaign on the importance of consuming packaged and iodized salt over the exposed salt.
Speaking on the advantages of the packaged iodized salt over the exposed salt, Alhaji Lawal Idirisu stated that the iodized salt have been thoroughly processed and fortified with iodine which makes it very healthy for consumption while the iodine content also helps with development and optimum functionality of the brain especially in children.
“The exposed and unpackaged salt though may be cheaper but is very unsafe and unhealthy for consumption in so many ways. They are exposed to the sun and dust which is inimical to the consumers’ health and also the source or manufacturers cannot be ascertained” he said.
He urged the Emir and other community leaders in the North to enlighten the consumers of the danger of consuming exposed salt and encouraged them to adopt the packaged and iodized Mr. Chef Salt which is the best salt brand endorsed by the Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON) and approved by NAFDAC.
His Royal Highness, the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Shehu Idris thanked the management of Royal Salt Limited for taking it upon itself to sensitize the people of the region on the danger of consuming exposed salt.
He promised to use the traditional organ to disseminate the information to his people.
