A machine that can help remove feathers from slaughtered birds was showcased yesterday at the ongoing Poultry Show in Abeokuta. 

The new poultry technology simply named defeathering machine was produced by Provider Farm in Lagos. The company is specialised in making and supply of poultry equipment nation-wide. 

The new machine has big hole through where the birds will be dropped and exit hole where the removed feathers will pass out. 

It is designed to take seven birds at once. 

Representative of the company, who spoke with Daily Trust at his stand, said its operations involve killing the birds,  drop them in the hot water before removing them straight into the machine. 

He said within few minutes,  the machine will remove all the feathers neatly. 

He added that the machine, which uses electricity, is sold at N270,000.

Some farmers saw inspecting the machines were excited but expressed reservation about its price.
