The Executive Director of Handygidi International Ltd , a furniture making company, Mrs Diana Ehanah, has urged parents to encourage their children to acquire skills to enable them to hone their talents and creativity.
Mrs Ehanah disclosed this at the “Furniture Interior Expert” training organised by Handygidi for teenagers to mark this year’s Children’s Day on Saturday in Abuja.
She said, “We have introduced children to the basics of interior woodwork and design. In today’s world, informal skills are making children use their hands/talents and be entrepreneurial. So, it is advisable that they have informal education alongside formal education. The two are necessary.

“Today is the third year we are doing this and the feedback we get from parents is that we want our children to be skilled in furniture making. We want them to learn something different from regular classroom work. We have 26 registered children from Pacesetters College, Lifegate Academy and other children whom we have trained and will give certificates today.”
