It is evident that the Fatai Owoseni-led Lagos State Police Command is delivering meaningful security services to people and businesses in the state. It has been gaining significant attention and commendations across Nigeria and abroad for its efforts in fighting and winning the war against heinous crimes in the state. It is also on the verge of unravelling the circumstances surrounding several pending issues.

However, the unchecked activities of some policemen in Isolo and Ejigbo areas are becoming great embarrassment to the Command. The nefarious actions of these officers are seriously impinging on Owoseni’s fervent desire of actualising a crime-free Lagos. The corrupt acts might possibly erode citizens’ trust even in innocent police officers.

The policemen in question set up illegal check-points on most major and even feeder roads in the areas. They do not only extort money from commercial drivers on daily basis; they harass other innocent road-users as well. In fact, the leadership of the Command only needs to pay unscheduled visit to the St Mary’s Catholic Church Road, Aswani Market Road, among others to appreciate the point.
