A cripple, Abdulazeez Muhammed Jega, has been arrested by the vigilante group for allegedly sexually abusing four under aged girls in his room.
Jega is popularly known as ‘Social’ and reputed for allegedly indulging in sexual affairs with minors in Jega and Badariya areas of Kebbi State.
While speaking to journalists, the State Commander of the Vigilante Group in Kebbi State, Lawal Muhammed Augie, said when his men got to the suspect’s house they met four girls whose names were given as Hafsat Umar, 13, Shamsiya Muhammed, 12, Hauwa Awali, 12 and Aisha Aliyu, 13, with him and they all confessed he had sexual affairs with them.
He added that his men got the tip-off about the suspect’s act from residents of Badariya area in Birnin Kebbi. “We quickly went into action and we met four of the girls in his apartment. They all confessed he has been having sexual affairs with them. Even one of them said he has been having it with her since last year,” he said.
The vigilante commander said the cripple was chased away from Jega town because of his penchant for having sexual affairs with minors.
“Before he was arrested, residents of Badariya community have been complaining about his sexual behavior with minors,” he said.
One of his victims, a 13-year-old girl told our correspondent that the suspect had been having sexual affairs with her for about a year.
“One day I was hawking for my parents when he invited me. He persuaded me to enter his room and since then he has been having sexual affairs with me and the other girls,” she said.
Jega, who claimed he has a wife and three children, while answering questions from journalists, said he committed the crime. He said he had at different occasions invited the girls to his apartment and had sexual affairs with them.
The community leader, Malam Muhammed Abdullahi (Marafan Badariya) said he received several complaints about the man’s abuse of minors within three months of his stay in the area.
He said “I just have just spoken to his landlord and we are about to expel him from our community when he was apprehended while sexually abusing four minors,” he said.
Meanwhile, the vigilante commander said the suspect would be handed over to the state Hisbah board for prosecution.
