Cristiano Ronaldo has officially become the first footballer to reach billionaire status, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.

The 40-year-old Portugal and Al-Nassr striker’s net worth is now estimated at $1.4 billion (£1.04bn), based on his career earnings, investments, and endorsements.

Between 2002 and 2023, Ronaldo reportedly earned over $550 million (£410m) in salaries and secured lucrative sponsorships, including a decade-long Nike deal worth $18 million (£13.4m) annually.

His 2022 move to Saudi club Al-Nassr made him the highest-paid player in football history. Recently, he extended his contract for two more years, reportedly worth over $400 million (£298m), keeping him at the club past his 42nd birthday.
