The Kano-born actress stated that she became an actress on her own volition: “It is God that is behind anything someone picks interest in. I didn’t become an actress for any bad reason. I became an actress because it is a means of making ends meet. Just as everyone takes delight in what he/she does for a living; that is how I also take delight in acting as my own means of making a living.”
She adds that: “One of the major challenges I have faced is that of the viewers. The viewers fail to understand the message the movie is trying to pass across. They only look at the role an actor or actress plays and then assume that is the way he/she behaves in reality which isn’t the case. It’s just a movie. The viewers should see acting as a job. People call us all sorts of names and they tag the females as prostitutes, which is very unfair to us.”
In all the movies Maimuna has featured in, she says the ones she thinks she performed well in include ‘Ni Da KeMun Dace’ and ‘Ina MukaDosa.’  “The reason why I love these movies is because of the roles I had in them,” she explained.
Maimuna said her acting career has taken her to Ghana and Cameroun. “I have also been to Abuja, Lagos, Bauchi, Lafia and Niger,” she added.
“Marriage is the will of God. He has prepared a time for me. The time of death as well as marriage, God has set that day. I am only waiting for the person he will bring on my wedding day. My prayer is that he will bring the right person,” the actress said.
