Governor Liyel Imoke, who inspected the project, expressed happiness that the water project was nearing completion.
Managing Director of Lilleker, the water project contractors, Mr. Trevor Ralton, said that the first phase of the water project was 80 percent completed.
 He said it was expected to be completed within six weeks and when fully operational, it would supply water to five thousand homes.
The water project was expected to supply pipe borne water to Ikom, Obubra, Yakurr and Abi local government areas.
Imoke was shown the power house where electricity would be supplied for 24 hours, underground laid pipes for reticulation of water and a pontoon currently under construction.
Commissioner for Water Resources, Engr. Elemi Etowa accompanied the governor who also inspected the water treatment site and its various components.
