Commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. James Aniyom, who ordered the free distribution of the oil palm seedlings said it was a way of boosting their means of livelihood and the economy of the State.
Speaking to his management staff, Aniyom said that the purpose was to encourage the people to see oil palm business as lucrative and one that could boost the economy of the state, adding that the state was fast-tracking the Transformation Agenda of the federal government by the free distribution of oil palm seedlings to farmers.
He lauded the agricultural policies of the state governor, Senator LiyelImoke, towards empowering the youths and women in particular, through the provision of free agricultural inputs and loans to farmers.
Aniyom called on the youth to reciprocate the good gesture of the state government and take advantage of its agricultural policies for their own good, saying the state Ministry of Agriculture has enough oil palm seedlings for those interested in going into oil palm production.
