Governor of Cross River State, Professor Ben Ayade recently laid the foundation for the construction of 5,000 housing units for the less privileged in the state.
The N78 billion housing project is in partnership with a non-governmental organization, Africa Nations Development Programme (ANDP), a subsidiary of World Nations Development Initiative.
Speaking at the event, Ayade attributed the housing shortage in Bakassi to the ceding of the peninsular to neighbouring Cameroon.
He commended ANDP for the initiative, promising to facilitate its early completion in order to reduce problem of housing in Bakassi and other part of the state.
Director-General of ANDP for Africa, Dr. Samson Omojuyibe said the mandate of the organization is to provide succor for the less privilege in the society.
