The water project which is to serve 14 communities with 5,500 households benefitting, is funded by the World Bank, and is expected to be completed within 12 months.
Governor Liyel Imoke said his government was determined to provide potable water and other essential amenities for the betterment of its citizenry.
Represented by the Deputy Governor, Mr. Efiok Cobham, at the signing ceremony, he said “lack of potable water is responsible for poverty and other diseases and, I hope this project will be pursued effectively and delivered on time.
“Provision of potable water has become very critical in addressing water borne related diseases,” he added.
Commissioner for Water Resources, Eng. Elemi Etowa, explained that the contract included the extension and rehabilitation of Itigidi phase two water scheme which was initiated in 1972 and  started appearing in the state`s rolling plan in 1983 but never materialised.
Managing Director of Lilleker Brothers Nigeria Limited, Trevor Palton said his company has so far handled five water projects in the state.
He promised to deliver the project on schedule and based on specification while the Obudu water scheme will be commissioned in December.
