Cross River votes N6.1bn to complete specialist hospital

The hospital is situated in the sprawling Summit Hill where construction of Calabar International Conference Centre is ongoing.
Imoke made this announcement when he presented the 2015 state budget over the weekend.
He explained that the money will cover the design, construction and equipping of the hospital, on a 50-50 basis by the state and the private partner – Utopian Consulting Healthcare of the USA.
He said the state would partner with the private stakeholders to be able to achieve this lofty project, lending credence to the recent lease out of five general hospitals to private management.
“The rationale is to develop a commercially viable healthcare facility through a Pubic Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement that will provide adequate healthcare for the citizens of the state as well as target the traffic of Nigerians that travel abroad for medical attention,” he said.
Stressing that his government will complete the hospital before handing over next May, he said, “We shall place great premium on the completion of all on-going projects to enable the incoming administration take off on a clean slate.”
