Cryptocurrency trader, Linus Williams aka Blord, has been granted bail after three days in police custody.
Social media activist, VeryDarkMan, announced this in a post via Instagram.
On Tuesday, Daily Trust had reported how the Nigeria Police Force confirmed the arrest of BLord.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Force Public Relations Officer, in a statement via X, said he was arrested following complaints against his companies and allegations around fraud and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.
Reactions as Police arrest crypto trader Blord for ‘fraud, terrorism funding’
Adejobi assured that the Force would ensure the safety of the country’s cyberspace.
The post read: “The FCID (NPF-NCCC) is currently investigating complaints lodged against Blord Group, Blord Real Estate Ltd, Blord Jetpaye Limited, and Billpoint Technology.
“These offences include allegations bothering on cryptocurrency fraud, aiding internet fraud, computer-related fraud, terrorism funding, and non-compliance with regulatory frameworks.
“We will do due diligence in our investigations. Our cyberspace in Nigeria must be safe and secure by all means. We are committed to achieving that.”
In an update that has gone viral, VeryDarkMan stated that Blord was released after pleading.
“After much begging and crying, Blord is out. He will be returning next week to face all his alleged crimes. I trust the Nigeria police force will ensure justice is served. See you next week, Mr. Influential,” he posted.
This comes after BLord’s management had debunked the allegations of his arrest, saying the crypto trader was simply invited for questioning.
