The Centre for Justice and Accountability (CJA) has commended the federal government for embracing a “practical legal pathway” in its case against a former Aviation Minister, Senator Stella Oduah.

Justice Hamza Muazu of the Federal Capital Territory High Court last week discharged Stella Oduah from a N2.5 billion fraud case.

The court also discharged Gloria Odita, a former aide to Oduah, after the prosecution announced it had discontinued the case against both women following a plea bargain and confirmed recovery of the alleged proceeds.

A statement on Sunday, signed by Ochiaga Jude, on behalf of the CJA, said the move by the federal government would preserve judicial time, reduce prolonged litigation costs, and ensure that public interest remains protected.

“We particularly salute the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation for pursuing a resolution that reflects both accountability and procedural efficiency.

“In a justice system where court dockets remain heavily burdened, plea bargain arrangements, when transparently managed, can help redirect scarce judicial resources toward other pressing national cases,” the Centre said.
