Barely 24 hours after an attack on the 16th Kano Emir’s Palace known as gidan Rumfa located in Kofar Kudu within the old city, some civil society organizations led by One Kano Agenda, have demanded explanations.

Supporters of the 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, and those of the reinstated 16th Emir, Muhammadu Sanusi II, clashed on Sunday at the Kofar Kudu palace.

The incident occurred as Emir Bayero returned from his Mandawari residence.

During the clash, the palace gate was reportedly broken, guards were attacked and injured, and police vehicles within the palace premises were vandalised.

Speaking with journalists yesterday in Kano, the head of the CSOs Mustapha Abdullahi urged the police to “Identify, arrest, and prosecute all individuals responsible for leading and executing the attack,, recover all stolen police assets, especially the missing bullet magazine, which poses a serious security risk.”

The CSOs include: Kano Digital Media Rangers; Youth Mobilisation by Media; One Voice Development Initiative; Beyond Border Alliance; Kano First Forum and One Kano Agenda.
