A coalition of civil society organizations has declared support for the Dangote Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited, urging stakeholders to avoid actions that could hinder the refinery’s operations.

In a joint statement signed by Comrade Danesi Momoh Prince of the Empowerment for Unemployed Youth Initiative (EUYI) and Igwe Ude-umanta of the Guardians of Democracy and Development Initiative (GoDDI), alongside 45 other CSOs, the groups emphasized the importance of safeguarding the multi-billion-dollar project.

The coalition also noted the recent industrial dispute involving refinery workers, appealing to all parties to prioritize dialogue and cooperation.

“As patriotic Nigerians and watchdogs of society, we believe that constructive engagement is the best path forward. The smooth operation of this refinery is critical for our economy, and every effort should be made to protect it,” the statement read.

The groups highlighted that the refinery represents a major investment with the potential to position Nigeria as a net exporter of refined petroleum products, create jobs, and stabilize fuel supply.

They cautioned against any disruptions to the project and called on Nigerians to rally behind efforts to sustain its operations.

“We stand firmly with Dangote Refinery as a national asset. All stakeholders must work together to ensure its success and to advance Nigeria’s economic recovery,” the coalition stated.
