Some civil society groups in Nigeria have requested that the federal and state governments ensure adequate allocations are made for issues that border on the wellbeing of women in the proposed 2022 budget.

Leaders of the CSOs made the calls during a session organized by the Development Research and Projects Centre in partnership with Advancing Women in Economic Development at the 62nd conference of the Nigerian Economic Society in Abuja on Friday.

While speaking at the session, Barrister Vera Ndanusa, National President of the National Association of Women Entrepreneurs, said it was necessary for governments at all levels, including representatives of the people at the National Assembly to take advantage of the ongoing debate on the proposed 2022 budget to fulfill their commitments of empowering women in the country.
