Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and traditional rulers have condemned the incessant killings among the youth in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State over issues bordering on cultism.
Daily Trust Saturday reports that over five youths were said to have lost their lives between November and January over cult-related activities in the Lokoja Local Government Area of the state.
Areas like Old Market, Maigari Palace, Kabawa, Sarkin Noman, Phase 11 Lokogoma Estate and Adankolo in Lokoja have been rife with cultism over the past two months.
Recently, a lady was hacked to death in a house in Phase 11, Lokogoma Estate, when rival cult members, out of anger of missing their targeted person, shot and killed her in the house.
The Chairman, Lokoja First Advocacy Group, Umar Ali, lamented that five persons had been killed by rival cult groups in Lokoja within three months.
The Sariki Wasa of Lokoja, Mohammed Baba, called for laws that would strengthen the traditional institutions to assist in curtailing cult activities in Lokoja.
