The Anambra Civil Society Network (ACSONET) has urged the governor of the state, Prof Charles Soludo, to immediately start the distribution of palliatives provided by the federal government to cushion the effects of fuel subsidy removal.

The leader of the group, Prince Chris Azor, made the call on Tuesday while interacting with newsmen after a stakeholders meeting on strategies to address the suffering of citizens in the face of current challenges.

Azor said the body of civil society organisations is concerned about the plight of the masses in the face of the hike in prices of commodities, transportation and general livelihoods.

He also stated that the group noted that the palliative packages by the federal and state governments would not be enough to mitigate the hardships faced by Nigerians.

Azor urged patriots and stakeholders to devise other intervention mechanisms that would be far-reaching and sustainable to mitigate hardship.

He, however, commended the state government for rolling out intervention strategies as announced by the governor in a statewide broadcast.

He assured of the group’s readiness to partner with the state government and other stakeholders in monitoring the implementation process to ensure inclusivity, transparency and accountability.
