CSS to produce vitamin A cassava biscuit

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has disclosed that the government has established a factory that will produce different types of fortified biscuits with vitamin A.

He spoke when he commissioned the CSS’ food processing and packaging factory at Gora, near Abuja.

He said back in the state, his government has set up many factories that have a massive biscuit line.

He said the factories will not use wheat flour.  “We want to use fortified cassava flour to produce our biscuits. We will fortify our flour with special vitamin A and energy to produce the biscuits.”

The governor said agriculture and agro-industrialization hold the key to a prosperous future.

He called on the federal government to fully return to agriculture, devoid of the usual primitivism mentality if the country must rise beyond her present economic quagmire.

He stated that all forms of industrialization start with agro-industrialization, emphasizing that Nigeria must replace her primordial and cumbersome methods of agriculture to mechanized farming which would lead to industrialization and crops value chains, driven by world class technology.

Ayade said about 3,000 young persons from Cross River have been sent for training at the CSS Farms.

Another batch of 150 trainees was also sent recently for similar training.

“I will send as many youths as possible here before my tenure ends. Over 3,000 have been trained already, more will still be trained because we are now expanding our value chain. So, we will need some more raw materials.
