The Kano Peace Committee (KPC) has inaugurated a nine-man Project Planning and Strategy Implementation Team to work in educating and empowerment of repentant thugs and drug addicts.
The team is to work under a project titled ‘Promoting Peace through Economic and Educational Empowerment for Repentant Political Thugs and Drug Addicts in Kano State’ aimed at inculcating positive change in their lives.
The co-Chair of Kano Peace Committee, Emeritus Prof Ibrahim Halilu Umar, explained that the committee was established to ensure lasting peace in the state.
He described the committee as a multi-stakeholders’ platform which has membership of personalities with vast experience on peace building and community development.
The chairman explained that they resolved to constitute the nine-man team to take charge of facilitating the process of successful and effective implementation of promoting peace through economic and educational empowerment for repentant political thugs and drug addicts.
The committee members are Dan Amar of Kano, Alhaji Aliyu Umar Harazumi, chairman; Alhaji Abdulrahman Umar, deputy chairman; Prof Ismail Zango, Dr Abba Sufi, Rev Samuel Adeyemo, Hajiya Mariya Aliko Dangote, Alhaji Danladi Hanga, Mrs Rakiya Abba Tahula and Mustapha Mukhtar as members.
