Cubana Chief Priest: Tinubu doesn’t trust me because of Obi

Popular socialite and businessman, Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, has claimed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu does not fully trust him because of his previous support for Peter Obi during the 2023 presidential election.

Cubana Chief Priest was notably vocal in support of Obi and the Labour Party ahead of the 2023 polls.

He has since aligned with the ruling All Progressives Congress and Tinubu.

In February, the socialite was appointed Director of the City Boy Movement in Imo State, a political support group aligned with President Tinubu.

Last Saturday, the socialite failed to secure the APC candidacy for the Orsu/Orlu/Oru East federal constituency seat after pulling out on the morning of the election.

Speaking during a live session on Twitch with popular streamer Peller, Cubana Chief Priest suggested that his past political alignment may have influenced perceptions about him within the ruling party.

“As I am now, Tinubu does not really trust me because I am an Igbo man. He is looking at me with one eye that, ‘this one that once worked for Peter Obi’,” he said.

“I worked for Obi during the last election.”

The entrepreneur, however, said he no longer believes Obi has the political structure needed to emerge victorious in the 2027 presidential election.

“Peter Obi cannot win. I do not see him ready. The people who are more ready will win,” he stated.

He added that his recent political decisions were based on strategy and experience.

“I checked it, and I do not want to lose again. Because they say the first fool is not a fool, it is only on the second time you become a proper fool,” he said.
