According to the released inmate, Danzaria Laminga it was his father’s second wife who did not have any child to his late father that poisoned his father’s food which eventually led to his death in 2009. After his burial, his uncle picked him up and handed him over to the Police in Kuje, from Kuje Police Station they moved him to force headquarters and subsequently to Utako Police Station where he was detained for 4 months without trial.  
Towards the end of 2009, he was brought to Wuse High Court Zone 5 where the Judge stated that he be reminded in prison until his matter is decided. It was at this junction that Legal Aid Council during one of her prison’s visit to Kuje Interviewed him and took up his matter. The council’s Lawyer Adesoji Lawal of Civil Litigation Department followed up his matter and for the 5 years the matter lasted, he had more than 15 adjournments.
It was therefore a celebration galore on the 26th of March when Justice M.M Dodo of Court 7 Jabi granted him freedom due to lack of diligent prosecution.
The inmate while granting interview to LACoN news disclosed that Kuje Prison isn’t as bad as people thought because they were about 14 people in the room 10 sleeps on the bed while about 4 sleeps on the floor. On the issue of food, he said they eat 3 times daily while there are crafts people could learn and graduate from. He learnt barbing of hair and was an active foot baller while in prison.
The only sad thing according to him was the death of 3 men who despite treatment died in prison. On whether they were buried in the prison premises stated that an ambulance that was provided by the authorities came around and took the corpses away.  In appreciation, he thanked federal government for the establishment of Legal Aid Council, the prison authorities and his lawyer.   
The Counsel on behalf of the DG Legal Aid Council Mrs. Joy Bob Manuel thanked the Judge who decided to be on the side of justice and eventually find out that Justice is done in the case and for his realizing that liberty of a man is part of his inherent and inalienable fundamental right.  Gratitude was also extended to FCT Commands, DCP Kuje Tanko Musa and K.O. Yusuf comptroller of FCT.
