No fewer than five persons were reportedly killed in a renewed cult fight in Benin Metropolis, the Edo State capital.

It was gathered that the victims were shot dead between Sunday and Tuesday evening in different locations following a fight between Eiye and Black Axe confraternities.

Three persons were reportedly killed in Oliha area of Benin yesterday evening while others were hacked to death at the Isibor Junction adjacent St. Saviour Road, near Third Junction.

It was further gathered that the renewed killings started on Sunday night when a member of one of the groups was alleged to have been killed by a rival cult group at Iyobosa Street opposite Edo College.

Sources said as a result of that, the victim’s members allegedly traced the rival cult group and continued the fight thereby leading to the death of four other persons.

When contacted, the Edo police spokesman, DSP Chidi Nwanbuzor, said he was not aware of the killings.
