The Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Adewale Adeniyi, has donated a multimedia centre to the Nigerian Institute of Journalism to enhance media training and capacity building.

Adeniyi announced the initiative after being conferred with a fellowship of the institute, reaffirming his commitment to strengthening one of Nigeria’s oldest journalism training institutions.

A former student of the institute, where he obtained a Post-Graduate Certificate in Basic Public Relations in 1989, he attributed his professional success to the discipline and training he received, describing the project as a token of gratitude.

He explained that the multimedia centre, which will also house the institute’s radio station, is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in modern storytelling, integrating text, audio, video, images and animation.

According to him, the facility will include production and editing studios, modern classrooms, offices and staff lounges, while also fostering innovation and entrepreneurship among students.

The project will also include installation of a transformer and transmitter to support the institute’s radio station.

Describing the initiative as part of the Customs’ corporate social responsibility, Adeniyi said it reflects the agency’s commitment to national development.

Provost of NIJ, Gbenga Adefaye, commended the gesture, noting that it reflects the institution’s core values. Former Ogun State governor, Olusegun Osoba, also praised Adeniyi’s contributions.
