The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) has extended its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to secondary schools across the Federal Capital Territory as part of efforts to drive skills acquisition and boost learning among students
Speaking earlier at the first anniversary of its CSR initiative, ‘Customs Cares’, the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, described it as a well-structured platform designed to deliver measurable impact across key sectors, including education, healthcare, food security, environmental sustainability, social investment, and the creative economy.
According to him, the Service aims to impart 50,000 students nationwide through the programme, adding that about 15,000 beneficiaries have already been reached within the first year.
Also speaking on Tuesday at the event in Abuja, hosted by Government Secondary School Wuse Zone 3, a serving corps member with the Nigerian Customs Broadcasting Network (NCBN), Oluwatosin Isedowo, said, “Educate the Dreamers Project” which was conceived by her and supported by the NCS, is a community developmental service project targeted at providing quality education and skills training to out-of-school children and financially challenged students in the FCT.

 

“In the 21st Century, we have seen the importance of students having skills, so it’s more or less me reaching out to a community, reaching out to people, reaching out to teenagers and with the support of the Nigeria Customs Service, we are already achieving it,” he said.

 

The principal of the school, Mrs Josephine Ugwu, noted that the programme aligns with the commitment of the school to raise disciplined, informed and productive students.
