Operatives of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun I Area Command, have intercepted a 2021 Rolls-Royce Ghost worth billions of naira.
The black ultra-luxury car, with a Duty Paid Value (DPV) of N905,000,000, was seized along with a 2018 Honda with a DPV of N32,020,000 and a Benz valued at N21,423,400 at a border area in Ogun State.
The Area Controller, Godwin Otunla, disclosed this at a press briefing at the Idiroko headquarters in Ogun State on Thursday.
Otunla explained that the vehicle was intercepted at the border, calling it “unimaginable” that the owner would try to smuggle the car through that route.

“To carry such a huge vehicle across this border is unimaginable, but they tried it and we got them. We got it on the road. Investigation is still ongoing. The matter is with the headquarters already,” he said while responding to questions from newsmen.
The Controller added, “We are looking for the owner because he has committed an offence against our act. Nobody has shown up.”
He further disclosed that in July, the command made significant seizures with a total DPV of N1,401,531,923.95. This, he said, represented a “significant economic loss to smugglers but a huge gain to our national economy and security.”
Otunla said the command also intercepted 4,424 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice, which is equivalent to over seven truckloads. Other seizures included 50 sacks and 1,936 coconut-sized parcels of cannabis sativa, commonly known as marijuana, and 6,400 litters of petrol.’’
