Men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ogun 1 Area Command, have intercepted.

7,015 bags of foreign rice and 44,466 litres of petrol.

The command also intercepted 219 sacks and 1,725 parcels of Indian hemp and 940 rounds of ammunition.

The Area Controller, James Ojo, who disclosed this on Monday while briefing newsmen in Abeokuta on the command’s scorecard for the second quarter, explained that men of the command during their operations also seized 2,227 pieces of foreign used tires, 64 bales and 222 sacks of used clothes, 2,947 cartons of frozen poultry products, 21 units of vehicles, three units of motorcycles and 115 pairs of used shoes.

He put the total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the seizures at N770,666,237.00.

On the revenue drive of the service, he said the command generated N92,369,227.00 for the second quarter of 2024, a figure which represented about a 52.46 per cent increase compared to the N53,983,622.00 recorded in the corresponding period of 2023.

He added that the command surpassed the monthly revenue target of N34,122,666.90 in June, 2024, by 77.86 per cent.

He explained that, “This achievement is a testament to the diligence, commitment and professionalism of our officers and men who have worked tirelessly to ensure that we meet and exceed our revenue targets.

“It is also indicative of our unwavering commitment to the economic growth and development of our dear nation.”
