Customs intercepts N98m Indian hemp in Lagos

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Seme Area Command, has intercepted a tipper truck used for drug trafficking.

NCS said the truck was carrying several bags of cannabis sativa which were concealed under sand from Ghana.

The Seme Area Controller, Bello Mohammed Jibo, while showing newsmen the seizure, put the street value of the drug at N98m.

However, he said the driver and his conductor escaped when they discovered that they were going to be arrested.

He further said, “We have contacted the vehicle registration office and they are trying to track the owner of the telephone number the vehicle was registered with. We have also contacted the Department of State Services (DSS).

“Meanwhile, the Indian hemp will be handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
