Men of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at the weekend intercepted 5,046 bags of parboiled rice in Oyo State on the border with Benin Republic.

Other goods intercepted are 22 bales of second hand clothing, one unit of 2017 Honda Accord, one unit of 2020 Toyota Prado and other valuables.

The Comptroller of Oyo/Osun Area Command, Adamu Abdulkadir, who displayed the goods in Ibadan at the weekend, warned the people of Oyo and Osun states to desist from blocking access roads to his men during operations, saying such act was punishable under the law.

He said, “I encourage the people of the state to stay away from engaging in mob attack on officers performing their lawful duty as there are sanctions prescribed against such offenders in Sections 11 and 165 of the Customs and Excise Management Act (CEMA) Cap C45 LFN 2004.”
