The Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun 1 Area Command, has seized 1,839 contraband in 13 months, with a duty paid value of N2,383,401,660 billion.
The Customs Area Controller, Peter Chado Kolo, disclosed this on Thursday, while briefing newsmen on the scorecard of the command for the year 2020 and January, 2021, at the Sentry, Idiroko border post.
He said the seizures included foreign parboiled rice, petroleum products, poultry products, used tyres, second hand clothing, illicit drugs (tramadol and Indian hemp), palm oil, assorted soaps and body creams.
Kolo added that 512 vehicles and other means of conveyance were also confiscated in the period.
On revenue generated by the command, Kolo said N65,770 million was collected through fees from the auction of seized petroleum products.
He said the major source of revenue of the command from import and export have not been in operation since the closure of the land borders by the federal government.
