The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) controller general’s Team B Strike Force has seized contraband with a duty paid value of N143.6 million in Kaduna, Kebbi, Kano, Katsina, Adamawa and Borno states.

The coordinator of the strike force which covers zones B and D (North West and North East respectively) of the service, Deputy Controller Faith Ojeifo, while parading the contraband in Kaduna over the weekend, said the team made the seizures within the month of March, 2022.

Mr Ojeifo said, “The strike force made seizures of several contraband goods, including 994 bags of foreign rice, 960 bags of urea fertilizer, 43 cartons of spaghetti, 1,292 cartons of soap, 959 cartons of ladies shoes, 4,275 liters of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), one unit of used Mercedes Benz truck, one unit of Sino truck, one unit of used Toyota Starlet, 15 cartons of shisha, 11 cartons of cigarettes and 196 bales of used clothing, all with a duty paid value of N143.6m. We also had value addition of N67.9m by way of intervention.”

On the smuggling of arms and ammunition, Ojeifo said, “Though no arm and ammunition was intercepted within the period under review, we are still on alert for such.”
