The management of National Orthopedic Hospital, Dala on Friday honoured five retiring staff who served the hospital with commitment and hard work.
The awardees are two former Medical Directors of the hospital, Dr. Olawomi Popoola and Dr. Kabir Abubakar, former Heads of Physiotherapy, late Malam Halilu Mohammed, Pharmacy, Mr. O.T Onatunde and Nursing Services, Hajiya Hafsat Kolo.
Medical Director of the Hospital, Dr. Muhammad Nuhu Salihu, said the ceremony was organized to recognize the staffs that spent decades to improve health service delivery in the hospital.
“You have served this hospital efficiently for decades without been found wanting; therefore, we organized this little ceremony to honour you for your honesty, dedication and sacrifice in the service of the hospital,” he said.
Speaking on behalf of the awardees, Dr. Popoola thanked the management for recognizing their efforts to the hospital, saying that their hearts and souls would always be for the hospital
He also expressed satisfaction with the level of infrastructural development recorded in the hospital in the last ten years.
He described Hajiya Hafsat Kolo as a mother of nursing in the hospital who said had dedicated her time for the development of nurses and betterment of patients.
Part of the honour to the awardees is naming a building in the hospital after each of them.
