But Solomon Dalung insists the ADC coalition has a real shot. He argued that the PDP and APC have both failed the people and should no longer be trusted.
“The APC and the PDP have failed Nigerians, and that is why you are having a mass exodus of people from other political parties into the ADC,” Dalung said.
He dismissed suggestions that ADC is new or inexperienced.
“ADC is not a new party, and therefore, people should not deceive themselves by describing the party as new. The party has been on the ground for the past 19 years.
“The coalition that has adopted ADC cannot be wished away because it is part of the Nigerian political system,” he added.
Citing historical precedent, Dalung said, “APC was formed a year before the election, and it defeated the PDP in Plateau State. Now, ADC has two years before the election. Monitoring the political development, the ADC is a party to beat because the PDP is rocked with crisis. It is in the PDP today that we have dual membership. The APC has internal problems. The ADC is a party to watch and a party to beat.”
Shuaibu Ibrahim, a two-time ADC governorship candidate and the party’s National Chief Whip, also believes the party is gaining ground. “ADC has been on the ground for the past twenty years. All the parties have promised and failed. We will make sure that the message is sold to the common man,” he said.
“We will be democratic to all members to ensure everyone is carried along, enabling us to be embraced by all,” he added.
